Three years and thousands of dollars later, The Models of Visually Odd Photography (VOP) Fashion and Rock Show is hosting its third annual charity event. Led by photographer Chris Peterlin, of VOP, The VOP Show is an annual charity runway event that donates all proceeds to charity. This year, the proceeds will be donated to PAWS Chicago, Chicago’s largest no-kill humane organization. In order to raise money before the actual runway performance, the group hosts a Models Auction, set this year for April 11th. Held at the same venue as the show, Shark City, the Models Auction is a friendly event where bidders donate money on the spot for a date with a model, with bids starting at $10. The group date is held a week later at Shark City, on April 18th. This year’s Models Auction, however, has several new twists. The VOP Show is introducing new giveaways, and even more opportunities for the models and bidders involved. “This year we tried something a little different to collaborate more with the models and participants, as well as continue to strive a higher donation for the charity,” says assistant director, Kearstin. “We've decided on an ongoing theme of ‘Tease the Troops,’ where all models will dress in military based attire. On top of the costume party, we also are collaborating with designer Poison Candy of Las Vegas to create a calendar publication to send out to the troops in the field.” Not only will proceeds be benefiting charity, but the troops as well. “The best part of this auction is that we are tackling two great causes in one night,” says Kearstin. “We support the troops out in the field as well as donating to PAWS Chicago on behalf of better animal care!” But that’s not all. On top of donations to charity, a calendar to the troops and winning a date with a model at a top Chicagoland bar, bidders will also win special prizes from local radio stations Q101 and 97.9 The Loop. Prizes were donated in the name of charity and range from framed, autographed photos, to signed calendars of top models, to CD’s and t-shirts. This year’s show and Models Auction prove to be a huge success already, and with just a few days left before the bidding begins, the VOP board members encourage anyone 21+ to come out for a drink and for a chance to win prizes and a date with a model. “I feel this kind of motivation and involvement for the auction puts itself at just as high of excitement as the actual fashion show,” concluded the assistant director.
