Eddie Vedder - Into the Wild soundtrack The soundtrack was created by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. He uses simple beats and rhythms along with appropriate tones to bring a movie to life. It may be simple in form, but it is complete in its execution. If only it were longer! The CD cover is awesome as it has a front and back hard cover making it into a book where you can read the lyrics inside as if you're reading the journey of Into the Wild. Sean Penn asked Vedder to write a song, thinking he would place it at the end of the movie in the credits, but when Penn heard what Vedder created, he asked for more, and so we get a 25 minute, 11 track CD of songs 100% from the movie. This soundtrack though, is one to listen to over and over. This CD is great as a stand alone even if you didn’t see the movie. Songs like "No Ceiling," "Far Behind," "Rise," "Long Nights," "Hard Sun" and "Guaranteed" carry this album. I realize that it is most of the CD, but these are impressive songs. “Society” is the best as it epitomizes the movie and the soundtrack. As Christopher McCandless' life was cut too short, so was this CD, and so will this review be. Hope Vedder does more of the same in the future. I give this soundtrack an 8/10.
