Eddie Money Concert Review

Location: Cubby Bear North, Lincolnshire, Illinois

Band: Eddie Money

You have heard his songs, I know you have.  When they come on the radio you probably find yourself singing along and unless the radio station tells you, you're probably wonder who sings them.  I've been there myself.  "Walk on Water,"  "Two Tickets to Paradise" and "Take Me Home Tonight."  See you know what I'm talking about now.  He played all of them during is November 3rd show at the Cubby Bear North in Lincolnshire, IL.

It's unclear as to whether or not the show was sold out, but the venue was packed.  Obviously it was an older demographic than we are used to seeing, but at PUM there is no discrimination when it comes to age.  It's important to see these pop legends, because no matter what people think, it is guys like Eddie Money that left a stamp on the musical world we know today.  Eddie Money, now 58, was not a one hit wonder.  He was most active between 1976 and the late 1990's, found himself in a cameo role on The King of Queens, had "Two Tickets to Paradise" featured on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 2003 and "Shakin'" was featured in Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's.  It's only been more recently that Money has been touring again.

Despite pushing 60, the former NYC police officer can still get the crowd going.  His humor may be cheeky, but it makes the crowd smile as they sing along to almost every word to every song.  Money played all of his old hits, some of which we already mentioned, but also performed cover songs such as "HIgher and Higher" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," which are tracks featured on his 2007 release Wanna Go Back.  His daughter Jessica Money is also touring with dear ol' dad and taking her turn behind the microphone.  At just 18, it's obvious that she's got the vocal talent to follow in her father's footsteps and she certainly has the look.

After it was all said and done, the Money crew played for almost 90 minutes.  It was a show I'm glad I caught because who knows if we will ever get to see him around these parts again.  It's like any older rock band, see them now, because these legends won't be around forever.
