Coheed and Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV

I have to say, I wasn't a fan of Coheed and Cambria before Good Apollo came out.  With this album, Coheed definitely shed if not shatter any emo labeling they might have had in the past. Good Apollo is definitely one of those rare albums where nine times out of ten you'll like the entire CD, well you might not like "Wake Up," its kind of mushy, besides that, the album stands out dramatically.

After listening to the CD a bit, listeners will notice that the songs are really dark, and at times even the happy sounding songs sound oppressive. I love the way they mix dark and serious lyrics with happy sounds.  For instance, on the track Fear Through the Eyes of Madness, the chorus goes, "What is this that you keep telling me boy?  I'm not gonna hold your hand here when you walk, you'll burn in hell while there digging you out."

Probably the most terrifying song on Good Apollo is the instrumental that is put on the same track that follows the song "The Final Cut, this creepy Country twang-a-lang that just comes out of nowhere. It's a song that I can't listen to completely for fear it would steal my soul.   Overall this is a great album, one of the best so far to be released in 2005 I give it a 9.5 (out of 10).
