Chevelle – Vena Sera

Simply put, Vena
Sera exemplifies the power that is Chevelle. This being
their fourth full-length studio record, Chevelle comes out
swinging with their most intense record to date.
The Tool influences are
still very prominent, yet the overall feel is distinctly
Chevelle. From the thick melodic backbone of “Antisaint” to
the metalesque shreds on “The Fad,” Vena Sera is
probably one of the heaviest records Chevelle has ever
written. “Well Enough Alone” opens with a shrill abrasive
scream, while “I Get It” is carried by thick bass licks.
Overall, this album is
more intense and for a three piece, it sounds gigantic and
complex. This reviewer hasn’t been able to stop listening to
it since obtaining it. I give Vena Sera a 8.5 (out of
10).
Suggested Listening: “I
Get It” and “Well Enough Alone”
