Big Rock City - Self-titled

Big Rock City is a band the world will be hearing more of. Not because they’re doing anything groundbreaking, but because their sound is so manufactured that it’s massively marketable. Think Pearl Jam but poppier and Third Eye Blind, but faster; that’s Big Rock City.

The first few songs are without a doubt hook-filled pop songs that are sure to get people listening, but halfway through the album things become mundane. Songs like “I Believe in You” and “Better Place” sound like recycled U2 songs and by track six, things begin to run together.

This album really doesn’t sound like it was done from the heart, but with the intention to become huge. I give Big Rock City’s Self-Titled release a 4 (out of 10).

Suggested Listening: “Sink” and “All of the Above”
