(5 Out of 5)
Chicago can stake its claim in
yet another pop-rock phoneme in The White Tie
Affair. It was the video for the band's
first single "Allow Me to Introduce Myself...Mr.
Right" that got us hooked. One may contend
that it was the half-dressed females flooding
the screen that got our attention, but the music
does speak for itself.
The album, set to be released on
April 22 on Slightly Dangerous/Epic Records
entitled Walk This Way, is an exploration
in a variety of musical genres, but is cohesive
in its entirety. Think Fall Out Boy
combined with Maroon 5 and the synthetics of
Panic At The Disco.
The 10 tracks on Walk This Way
will have listeners dancing, playing air guitar
and wondering what these boys, who have only
been together since November of 2006, are going
to throw at them next.
TWTA seamlessly blend electro
programming with rock edge that we can only hope
the world is ready for. "The Letdown" is a
track beginning with a Justin Timberlake like
intro, before opening up into an all out rock
anthem, while "Scene Change" will make listeners
sweat as they dance along to it.
Almost every song on Walk This
Way could be a single, and we're okay with
that because everyone needs a great pop song to
brighten their day. "...Mr. Right," "Sick
and Tired" and "The Enemy" are great tracks to
start with. If The White Tie Affair do not
become superstars, then there is simply no
justice in the music business.
