(4 Out of 5)
The Maine
are among a new generation of pop-punk /
pop-rock bands like Hit the Lights and Metro
Station in a genre once dominated by New Found
Glory, The Atari’s and even Good Charlotte.
It’s obvious that this new breed of pop is still
flourishing.
My first
listen to Can’t Stop Won’t Stop was on a
clear sunny afternoon while driving and truth be
told, it’s the perfect bright and shiny record
to listen to with the windows down and the wind
in your hair.
With near
perfect harmonies, tight musicianship and a
crisp sound, The Maine offer up the perfect
summer sing-a-long record. Produced by Matt
Squire (Panic! At the Disco, All Time Low) with
mixing help on three tracks by Chris Lord-Alge
(Green Day, My Chemical Romance), The Maine have
a package sure to entice the ears of any pop
fan.
The Maine
thrive on the typical formula, tackling
everything from relationships to life of the
road and the end result is almost too perfect.
Their brighter-side approach won’t depress
listeners and tracks like the acoustic driven
“Whoever She Is” or the energetic “Everything I
Ask For” will stick in listener’s heads for
hours.
Don’t be
afraid to admit you’re a pop dork. It’s okay
and The Maine will appreciate it!
