Lauren Harris - Calm Before the Storm

(3.5 Out of 5)

Lauren Harris has had quite a career since her official launch into the music business in 2005.  She immediately assembled with Tom McWilliams (vocals), Randy Gregg (bass), and Richie Faulkner (guitar) into the studio and playing various venues and music festivals. It wasn't until 2006, when she supported Alice Cooper, did her fan base and career really take off!   Did I mention she happens to be Iron Maiden Steve Harris' daughter?  Lauren soon began supporting Iron Maiden as well playing in places all around the world including India, Tokyo, and the UK!  She's even played with Korn, Heaven and Hell, and Stone Sour!  Rockin!

Harris’ recent debut album Calm Before The Storm lives up to its credentials, sort of.  Throughout the album, her clear-cut vocals matched with her rocker chick attitude are complimentary to each other, however, I can’t help but feel that something is missing.  It’s like I'm waiting for something to happen in the songs that never ends up coming.  So, I give this album an iffy rating due to the fact she never really makes a point and the redundancy actually becomes a tad bit boring.  Each song appears more and more predictable with the guitar solos and all.  I think she would be a great artist to see live, I just don’t suggest rushing out to buy this album just yet.
