  Lakeview Terrace

(2 out of 5 stars)

Samuel L. Jackson plays neighbor to a new couple on the block who happen to be in an interracial marriage. It appears due to Jackson’s loss of a wife and penchant for racism, he does not approve of the new neighbors and wreaks havoc on their life, if for no other reason that to be a jackass.

Jackson’s character never truly defines why he hates his neighbors, one can only assume. Furthermore, Jackson’s overacting makes it even more stupefying of why he chooses to do horrible things to his neighbors. In fact, if Jackson’s problem is a mental condition, why is no one else picking up on it? At least in Changing Lanes, he had a reason for being angry with another white guy.

This movie gives me reason to ponder what the “L” in Samuel L. Jackson stands for. Is it “lucky”? Lucky that people continue to enjoy him no matter the acting involved. Ludicrous?  As almost every character is as absurd or more so than the previous. Livid? Well, his characters usually are loud and angry almost every time. How about Lightweight? Since his acting ability is about as weak as Paula Abdul’s judging ability.

Someone please stop giving this guy acting work.
