Nicholas Cage stars in this science fiction movie about a father who gets connected to a code from the past that accurately predicts many past disasters over the past fifty years, as well as a few more that have yet to happen. He first believes his job is to interpret the code and do what he can to prevent these accidents from happening until he finds that the last disaster is the end of the world. He then attempts to find a way to protect his family from future annihilation.

Cage was wrong for this role. He is not believable as some astrophysicist or a family man. The plot plods along in limbo as bad things continue to happen and nothing can be done until the surprise ending occurs that in many ways changes the whole concept of the movie. It goes from a saving the world movie like Signs, I Am Legend, etc to some weird science fiction film that does not seem to make a lot of sense in the end.

As Cage’s character was able to know about the future and then did everything he could to prevent it, I continued to wonder if I would have known what I was about to watch, could I have prevented it so that I would not have wasted my time? Is it possible that I was destined to watch it? And if so, why was I not saved from watching it? That would have been nice.
