Fiance - Please, ambitious, please

Let me start off by saying this album is definitely a unique indie rock album...  Please, ambitious, please is comprised of only five songs all of which err slightly on the darker side of things.  The lyrics definitely strike a satirical tone and have a low key melody that seems to flow from one track to the next.  The album begins with a song called "Super-soft Knife," which gives you the impression that the rest of the album might have some potential, but then it flows into the next track which seemed rather bland and slightly mood crushing to be honest.   Don’t become too accustomed to their sound though, the fourth track shocks you with a completely different style that doesn’t really fit with the rest of the album.   After listening through the tracks a few times I wasn't completely sold on it.   I will say this Denver quartet is quite clever in their word choices and ballad style I just find their actual music dull and unoriginal.  Not all hope is lost.  Their songs do have a way of creeping into your head.  The piano melody in "Twenty Something" is a nice touch and "I Don't Want You Anymore" is entertaining with the irony of the harsh lyrics mixed in the upbeat rhythm. So to give this rock group a fair chance, I say go and listen to this album once, just don't be prepared to be blown away by the sound.
