There’s no
doubt that critics will write Every Avenue off
as Fall Out Boy wannabe’s, but screw that.
Every Avenue, may be easily compared to Fall Out
Boy sonically and maybe even vocally, but is
that such a bad thing? After all there is
nothing wrong with addictive hook-filled pop
rock. As many of Popular Underground readers
know, I’m a sucker for pop whatever, so no one
is going to hear me bitching about Shh. Just
Go With It.
Every Avenue
has done a stellar job of writing radio-worthy
singles most noticeable on “Where Were You?” and
“Chasing the Night.” “Days of the Old”
immediately sets the tone for Shh, with
textbook pop-punk melodics. For a younger band,
Every Avenue webs thoughtful metaphors into
their lyrics as seen on a track like “Boys Will
Be Boys.” It’s possible to see this band
quickly join the ranks of bands like Girls Like
Boys or even Simple Plan. I found myself
constantly tapping my pen along to the beats of
these songs simply because they are so damn
catchy.
Shh
is proof that a band doesn’t need to be
mysterious or complex to be good. They even do
a good job on “Between You and I,” a
piano-driven love song of sorts about replacing
love with something else in life.
I give
Shh. Just Go With It an 8 (out of 10) and I
can only predict what the future holds for this
young group of musicians.
