Every Time I Die - New Junk Aesthetic

(5 Out of 5)

Let me catch my breath, I just finished listening to Every Time I Die's latest installment New Junk Aesthetic.  This record will seriously leave listeners gasping for air.  It overflows with ETID's signature guitar thrashes, yet capitalizes on Keith Buckley's ability to scream even when he sings.

The record opens with "Roman Holiday," a track that sounds like it belongs on Converge's You Fail Me, while "Who Invited the Russian Soldier," opens with explosive vocals and hair-raising guitar licks.

New Junk hints back to some of the band's older work and loses much of the melodic sing-a-long opportunities that we heard on The Big Dirty.  Perhaps "Host Disorder" is really one of the only tracks that features some singing.  "Turtles All the Way Down," churns with tempo changes and Keith growling from beginning to end, while "Organ Grinder" opens uniquely with some killer guitar feedback.

Be sure to check out the artwork within the Cd's packaging.  Jordan Buckley presents us with some phenomenal illustrations.  The deluxe edition includes two bonus tracks and a fun behind the scenes DVD.  Simply stated;  New Junk Aesthetic is one hell of a record and a must have for any ETID fan.

Suggested Listening: “Organ Grinder,” “The Marvelous Slut” & “Goddam Kids These Days” (Bonus Track).
