Get out the
dancing shoes, turn on the strobe lights and get
ready to get down! Danger Radio thoughtfully
combines danceable disco, funk and jazz melodies
and harmonies that make it difficult to sit
still while listening to Punch Your Lights
Out. When listing to Danger Radio, I
couldn’t help but think of how Panic! At the
Disco combined burlesque and big band tones to
their version of pop rock, which catapulted
their career. Danger Radio has the same
mentality, just with a different vibe.
“Party Foul”
is deservingly the first single off Punch,
and is a hook-filled disco-driven funk jam.
“Keep it Up,” features snappy guitar licks and
synthetic vocals, while “Sparkle Baby Shine”
showcases the vocal tones of Andrew de Torres.
If Danger
Radio doesn’t get your hips moving, then check
your pulse. Punch Your Lights Out,
produced by Tom Pfaeffle (Gatsbys American
Dream, Daphne Loves Derby), is a fresh look at
what pop music can be. I give the EP an 8 (out
of 10). I can’t wait to hear their full-length,
scheduled to drop sometime in 2008!
