(2 out of 5 stars) Cop Movies can be hit or miss. For every 48 Hours there’s a SWAT. Cop Out is somewhere in between. Bruce Willis plays a parody of John McClane, Seann William Scott can’t seem to escape Stiffler no matter how hard he tries, and Tracy Morgan is basically Tracy Jordan from 30 Rock with a badge. All of that is fine. I love Bruce Willis, and Tracy Morgan is hilarious doing anything. He has received “I Would Listen to Him Read the Phone Book” status. I will also watch anything Stiffler… I mean Seann William Scott does. I even watched that movie where he ran a DTC Jewel or something. If I had a point, it would be this: The whole movie was excess. Too many characters, too many plots, and the main baddie is a former minor league baseball player out for revenge because (of course) his brother gets killed by Bruce and Tracy… not exactly scary. I liked the movie. I liked it a lot, but I didn’t love it. I’m not sure if I’ll buy it, and to be honest Bruce Willis needs to step up his game. The original title was A Couple of Dicks… Only appropriate it gets a couple of stars, too. By: Paul Hammond - Senior Editor |
