(4 Out of 5)
Bowing for Soup is a band that
I'll never get tired of. I'll make no
apologies for my love of BFS. Admittedly
the band's previous record The Great Burrito
Extortion Case was not their best work, but
they redeemed themselves on Sorry for Partyin'.
The record opens with "A Really
Cool Dance Song," which is actually a really
cool pop-punk dance song that pokes fun at all
the "pop" bands that dress trendy and make
millions with a drum machine and some
synthesizers. How can a person not like a
band with a song entitled "Hooray for Beer?"
Somehow BFS make unforgettable records with a
simplistic approach to their music as heard on
"I Don't Wish You Were Dead Anymore," with a
melody that you swear you've heard a hundred
times before.
If you don't laugh at a song like
"No Hablo Ingles" or "BFFF," you should probably
check yourself for a pulse. Will Sorry
for Partyin' garner the band another Grammy?
Probably not, but it does offer an enjoyable
listen time and time again. Oh, and lets
not forget to touch on "My Wena;" a song
obviously written about the intricacies of the
penis. Tell me most of what Jaret Reddick
sings about isn't true?
Suggested
Listening: "No Hablo Ingles," "I Gotchoo,"
"My Wena" and "No Hablo Ingles"
