Adam Sandler goes Disney. He tells outrageous
fantasy stories to some kids and the stories become real, sort of,
in his life causing some crazy circumstances for him and the ones
around him. The stories would wow kids seeing the movie but
generally bore the adult audience.
Sandler does fine as the storyteller and all
other actors do fine as their fantasy characters and the present day
people, but there is not enough heart in the movie to make an adult
care about what is going on. Keri Russell, Courtney Cox, and Richard
Griffiths support Sandler as various people I could have cared less
about.
The effects and fantasy stories seemed
Disneyfied and unoriginal with a space story, gladiator story, and
others and did not provide the amount of amazement and wonder a
movie like this should provide.
This movie is a bit of a sleeper and so, I
guess, it is aptly titled. This movie could easily out someone to
sleep and that is not a good thing.
