   Alkaline Trio

LOCATION: The Rave, Milwaukee, Wi

Alright, I can't lie, Alkaline Trio is my favorite band of all time, so yes, I'm going to sing praises over their recent tour stop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  This is one of those reviews where the writer is going to be bias, yet truthful and honest.

Alkaline Trio opened their set with "My Friend Peter," which really set the tone for the entire set.  The band really didn't showcase too much off their latest effort Agony & Irony, which pleases most longtime Trio fans because let's face it, it was the old stuff that got us all into the Chicago-based band in the first place.  The new songs they did play like "Calling All Skeletons" and "Kiss, Kiss" were performed with an energetic ease, setting the songs up to be live favorites for years to come.

It seems like every Trio show I attend the band plays "Private Eye," but not during this run.  While this fan found that to be disappointing the band did come on strong with songs like " Hell Yes," "The Poison," and "This Could Be Love."

Alkaline Trio do not go to great lengths to wow the crowd with a lot of stage movement, jokes or banter, rather they bestow unto their fans a seemingly religious experience.  They bring the crowd through a history lesson of their band dating back to some of the earliest tracks the band ever played, while conducting themselves with a poise and seriousness that hinges on epic.  Trio has truly mastered the art of making their sets engaging through dark imagery within their song content and proving that it's the music that speaks to each and every one of us.

The band concluded the evening to the fan favorite "Radio," and while I still didn't feel I had my fill of Alkaline Trio, I had enough to get me through until their next run through town.
